Poll Results: Do Anole Annals Readers Intend to Adopt the Proposed 8-Genera Reclassification of Anoles?

The results of the informal, unscientific, potentially bogus poll would seem to indicate that the answer is a resounding “No.”

  1. I certainly do not ever intend to use those silly pet-store names! Anolis is a good genus; I will stick with it.

    I find it hard to see how Nicholson et al (2018) can justify their taxonomic assessment based on a study by Poe et al. (2017). The phylogenies produced in the latter paper show weak statistical support for many of the clades that are designated as sub-families and genera by Nicholson et al 2017. The authors do not discuss the lack of statistical support in their taxonomic conclusions, a disingenuous interpretation of the data at best and does not respect the high standards that the taxonomic community seeks to up hold.
