According to the Partners in Amphibian and Reptile Conservation, today is the end day of the Year of Lizard (2012) and the arrival tomorrow of 2013 marks the beginning of the Year of the Snake.
On the lizard’s year, the anoles were present in the poster (with Anolis grahami) and the november month on the Monthly Calendar (with Anolis phyllorhinus). Maybe for next calendar will be present Anolis pseudoophiosaurus.

This (probably intentionally) matches the Chinese zodiac, in which 2013 is the year of the snake (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_zodiac). Of course, this does not officially begin until the Chinese new year, Feb. 10 2013.

It’s the same with the Year of the Lizard, according to the Chinese zodiac the year 2012 is the Dragon Year. I remember a website where it made the relationship between the lizards with the dragons.
This is the page, and of course an Anolis was present:

Thanks Ramon! Too bad it was just a sagrei. A. equestris would have been a better choice.

Disappointing that this doesn’t recognize our knowledge squamate phylogeny – ‘year of the lizard’ implicitly includes snakes!
