The Dutch Caribbean Natural Alliance has put up a nice webpage on the endemic anole of Saba, Anolis sabanus. The page is full of information and points out that the species is quite common on Saba, contrary to rumors swirling around the internet that it is rare–rumors started, I think, by breeders trying to increase the value of their stock.

Despite the fact that I have caught hundreds and hundreds of these guys they are still my favorite and fill me with delight every time that I do. (And yes, they are super common. I caught 71 in an hour once!)

Thank you for the link Jonathan. Interesting to hear the rumor of it being a rare species… Although I guess no matter how common you are locally, when you are only found on an island of 13 km2, you can be considered quite globally rare!
