Ian Wang stumbled across a recently-published species description of an unbelievable new Anolis species that may be a new ecomorph – the ground-ground anole!! You have to read it for youself!

I wonder if this is related to some of the new ecomorphs/species we’ve been working on in Curacao – we’ve tentatively named them the the coarse ground anole (Anolis folgerensis) and the finely ground anole (Anolis espresso).

This is so amazing! Have you managed to get an x-ray of the new limbless anole? I’d love to look at the skeletal modifications. Does it climb as snakes do ever?

Hi all, I just added a disclaimer to the post. Just to be clear, pseudoophiosaurus (false snake lizard) is not a real lizard. This “article” was “published” on April 1 and meant completely as a joke. Sorry if we confused anyone!

Somewhere. in the back of my head, I remember this species as being already described by either Cope or Taylor.. as Norops naja

Seriously funny stuff, Yoel! Something about the image of a limbless yet dewlapped saurian has me captivated. It’s a loathsome, offensive brute… yet I can’t look away.

Alas, that image was the work of one of my three co-conspirators. I’ll let him or her reveal him- or herself if they so choose! I agree! That dewlap is perfectly integrated into the rest of A. pseudoophiosaurus. Who is he signaling to I wonder?
