Hello anolers. A friend of mine named Ryan Killackey is making a documentary film about the Yasuni region of Ecuador, home to indigenous tribes and incredible biodiversity (including anoles!). The region is also, not surprisingly, under pressure for development and the film is documenting that struggle.
Filming for the project is over 50% complete, but for the next phase Ryan is helping to coordinate and also filming a biodiversity assessment in the region. To fund this he has just started a Kickstarter page for contributions. The page includes a promotional trailer for the film as well as a description of the project and scientific and institutional collaborators.
Ryan is the real deal. He has made two previous nature documentaries and has produced programs for PBS and the National Geographic Channel. He has spent years in the Yasuni region, and protecting it by telling it’s story has become his labor of love.
If you feel so inclined, please check out the page and consider forwarding it to others that might be interested. And feel free to contact Ryan if you would like to hear more about this work! Also, I apologize if folks feel this is too promotional, but I felt it was something that many in the anole community would be interested in.
